Thermodynamic properties of SiC-seeded air plasma are investigated in wide pressure and temperature ranges. The role of SiC concentration, relative to air, is analyzed. The mechanisms of SiC oxidation are widely discussed. Due to the complexity of the problem, hierarchical algorithm for equilibrium calculation has been improved, constructing ad hoc reaction sets from major species, following the Cruise-Villars method.
