Francesco Pucci

I studied at the University of Calabria, where I got my Bachelor’s degree in Physics in 2010, my Master’s degree in Physics in 2012, and my PhD in Physics of Complex Systems in 2015. During my PhD, I was a visiting scholar in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Delaware (USA). In 2016, I moved to Belgium to work as a postdoc in the Centre for Mathematical Plasma Astrophysics at the Department of Mathematics at KU Leuven (Belgium). In 2018, I was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship by the Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (Research Foundation – Flanders, FWO). Since 2019, I’m a permanent researcher in the Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (ISTP) of the italian National Research Council (CNR). I study fundamental plasma processes in astrophysics by means of numerical simulations. These processes include magnetic reconnection, turbulence, dynamo and particle diffusion. My work finds application to several astrophysical environments including the solar corona, the Earth’s Magnetosphere, the solar wind, and the interstellar medium.
