CIP 2026: Italy’s First National Conference on Plasma Science Held in Frascati

The first Italian Conference on Plasmas (CIP 2026, February 3–6) has just concluded at the ENEA Research Center in Frascati. The event brought together 150 representatives from research institutions and universities to discuss the main application areas of plasma science, ranging from nuclear fusion and astrophysics to low-temperature plasmas and their many industrial applications.

The Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (ISTP) took part in CIP 2026 with a large group of researchers from its three branches in Bari, Padua, and Milan. Through several talks and poster presentations, ISTP actively contributed to providing an overview of the activities of the Italian community, its most significant achievements, and the latest developments across the various research fields.

The thematic project round tables, aimed at identifying potential synergies and discussing future scenarios, also saw the active participation of researchers from all three branches.

With 37 invited speakers and 143 submitted abstracts, the first Italian Conference on Plasmas represented an important opportunity for dialogue and exchange in a field considered among the most strategic for technological innovation and plasma applications.
